Better made now than ever before, hearing aids amplify sounds very well within a 3′ radius and in quiet spaces. In larger, noisy spaces with varied acoustic properties, hearing aids can distort critical sounds of speech and amplify background noises.
Aprroximately 82% of hearing aids are equipped with a telecoil for receiving the audio signal generated by an audio induction loop system. 100% of cochlear implants have a built-in telecoil. The “T” in the lower right corner of the international symbol seen below tells people that they are in a “looped” space and can switch their hearing device to the “T” or “Telecoil” setting to hear more clearly.
All brands of hearing aids and cochlear implants are capable of working with an audio induction loop system. Some hearing aids come with phone-based controls. See video below for an example.
